The costs of the fancier restaurants aren't any worse than old-town scottsdale. Part of this is my diet - I feel I've lost out on the good Mexican and burger places, and picked up better pizza and mediterranean. There is a huge variety of excellent restaurants, but most of the time I prefer lower cost fast casual - There isn't as much here as there was in Arizona IMO. I've been disappointed by the food relative to Arizona.It's fairly easy to live within your means if you choose to, and there are plenty of low/no cost activities close by to enjoy. Aside from housing and taxes, I don't think Ann Arbor is very expensive.Maybe if you're used to Flagstaff politics it's at least similar, but compared to a conservative place like Scottsdale Ann Arbor is very liberal.
